Fabrics you can wear all year round – making fashion seasonless

fabrics for all seasons

Fashion is all about seasons. Why? Well, yes, we do agree that different fabrics and styles work well at different times of the year.

For instance, a lovely linen dress feels like heaven on your skin in summer, but could give you chills in winter. And a woolen skirt that makes you cozy in the colder months, is a nightmare when the mercury is rising.

But do we really need to browse through so many collections throughout the year? Isn’t it quite overwhelming? One on hand, we talk about sustainability, and on the other, we still have season based clothes. These two ideas don’t quite come together, does it?

What if you could create a wardrobe with fabrics that you can wear all year round?

So, we explored all possible fabrics and narrowed down on the best five that you can wear anytime, anywhere.

Cotton

What would we do without this incredibly comfortable fabric! From jeans to t-shirts, dresses, blouses, and even pants, cotton is the most basic fiber we need in our closet. Depending on the thickness of the textile, you can choose your clothes for summer and winter but pretty much wear cotton all year round.

Polyester

Polyester might seem like a warm fabric but when blended with cotton, it goes to a whole new level of comfort and class, so you can wear it in any style, any time. It’s breathable, resilient, and is easy to give shape to, so you never have the crumpled look of a pure cotton dress.

Silk

Rich and sophisticated, this all-natural fabric is extremely adaptable to any style. Pure silk clothes could be a tad warmer for very humid weather but silk blends are wonderful to wear throughout the year.

Poplin

Weaved with cotton yarns, or a blend of cotton and silk, poplin is yet another easy-to-wear fabric that is comfortable 365 days. Because they are crease-resistant and very sturdy, poplin also gives a smooth finish.

Viscose

Made from natural cellulose found in wood and plants, viscose (American: Rayon) is an eco-friendly, budget-friendly, and fashion-friendly fabric. It’s lightweight, soft, breathable, and drapes well, so you can wear it in any style throughout the year.

When you keep your wardrobe agnostic of the weather, dressing up becomes more versatile, fun, and not to mention, less stressful. All you need is the right pairing in summers and winters to beat the weather.

Making fashion sustainable is not just wearing natural fibers or ensuring ethical sourcing et al. But, it is also about making your clothes wearable more often, and wear them for longer, and creating a seasonless style statement. That is what true sustainability is all about!
