Try Chromotherapy or Color Therapy with your clothes today!

chromotherapy

Remember in one of our earlier blogs how we established “you are what you wear”? Now this theory holds a hold of truth for the colors of your clothes. Chromotherapy or Color Therapy is inducing certain emotions through colors.

Different colors have different effects on our personality, moods, and emotions, and the other way around as well. With the color choices of our clothes, we can easily induce their effects on ourselves. Such color therapy has a remarkable impact on our psychology and lets us be in tune with our emotions.

Green – earthy and nurturing

Look around – nature is all shades of green. It’s nurturing, soothing, and healing. That’s why we feel rejuvenated when we trek in a forest, or sit by the river, or explore the mountains.

Wearing green can give you that sense of earthiness and be in sync with nature. It also represents freshness and growth. On the days when you seek a little healing or want to start a new project/journey of your life, green clothes can be an impetus.

Blue – calming and secure

Blue gives you both a feeling of calm and security that comes from being in tune with your inner self. Hence you’ll find most corporate branding in blue.

Wearing ocean blue can be calming, like how we feel by the sea. Darker shades of blue can give a sense of comfort and uplift your spirits. Try wearing blue on days when you feel a little on the edge, and you would feel the difference.

Black – bold and stately

The darkest of all shades, in the color palette, black works both ways. Depending on how you are feeling, black can merge with your mood.

For example, wearing black for an evening gala can make you feel stately and impressive. On the other side, if you want to stay low-key at work, a simple black sweater or shirt can make you blend in. While black does induce a sense of strength, it also ensures ease with yourself.

White – peaceful and pure

Color therapy of white has been proven valuable for centuries across cultures. ! No wonder bridal ensembles have always been white. It brings a sense of purity. On the other extreme, people of different religious orders also wear white, because of the peacefulness that the color brings.

Wearing white can help you heal and cleanse your spirits, thus making you look at things from fresh perspectives. White clothes work great when you are feeling stuck with a thought or a project and want to revisit your thoughts.

Orange – energetic and spiritual

A high energy color, orange lets you get creative with yourself. It’s playful and intoxicating. That’s why you will see a lot of artists and creative people dabbling with shades of orange.

The color also has a deeper spiritual significance and is said to balance your chakras. But since it is high intensity, it’s not easy to go all orange. If you are not comfortable wearing orange outfits, you can always add an accent and perk up your mood, especially on days when the routine gets boring.

Mood dressers are people who are in-tune with their emotions and dress accordingly.

Purple – unique and adventurous

All through history, purple has always been the color of the royals. Why? Because they were the most special section of the society, unique in their lifestyles and behaviors from the “common man”.

Hues of purple like lavender, mauve, etc. also represent femininity and the adventurous traits that come with it. If you want to feel unique and not blend in, then a purple outfit is what you need on that day. It also tells the world that you want to stand out.

Pink – fun and endearing

The color of love – pink brings a lot of warmth and compassion. It’s also fun and flirty. That’s how it helps you connect with others.

Try wearing pink when meeting new people or going out with friends, especially if you are feeling a little isolated.

Yellow – cheerful and bright

Daffodils, buttercups, tulips, lilies – the bright sunny hues of these flowers can make everyone smile! Now yellow-colored clothes can harbor pretty much the same emotion. It’s cheery and warming like the sunshine. Spiritually, yellow also carries the same healing properties of the sun – positivity, optimism, and light.

If ever you are feeling low or negative, then try wearing something yellow and feel the difference in your mood. If you don’t like yellow, you can always add it as an accent like a scarf or an accessory and perk up your ensemble and your mood.

Red – passionate and powerful

Passion, power, danger – red can mean many things to many people. In clothes, it really packs a punch and boosts self-esteem. At the same time, a muted shade of red can help keep you grounded.

If you don’t want to go all red, then you can try to incorporate the color as a statement style or part of your ensemble.

So, instead of just being a slave to color trends, try your individual sense of style with different colors and become a mood-dresser.
